Policy on Generative Artificial Intelligence and AI-enabled Technologies

Our journal recognizes the growing role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in scientific research and manuscript preparation. At the same time, we emphasize that authorship is an exclusively human prerogative, since only a human can be responsible for the content of a publication. Accordingly, AI tools cannot be listed as authors of articles. Authors should exercise caution when prepare articles using generative artificial intelligence or AI-enabled technologies by carefully reviewing and editing AI-generated content. Such technologies may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or biased results.

Use of AI tools in manuscript preparation
We allow the use of AI tools to assist in writing articles only to improve readability and language of the work, provided that the following requirements are met:

  • Transparency: Authors are required to clearly indicate the use of any AI tools in their manuscripts. This should be done in the “Materials and Methods” section or another appropriate section, describing in detail which tools were used and how they contributed to the preparation of the material.

  • Responsibility: Despite the use of AI, authors bear full responsibility for the originality, reliability, and integrity of the content of their manuscripts. They must ensure that the use of AI does not lead to a violation of publication ethics or the inclusion of inaccurate information.

Authors' Responsibilities
Authors must:

- Ensure that all parts of the manuscript, including those prepared using AI, comply with our journal’s ethical standards and policies.

- Disclose any conflicts of interest related to the use of AI tools.

- Provide detailed information about the use of AI to ensure transparency and reproducibility of the research.

This policy is consistent with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and aims to maintain high standards of scholarly communication in the face of rapid advances in artificial intelligence technologies.

The use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing must be transparently declared. Authors should include a statement at the end of the manuscript at the time of initial submission. This statement will appear in the final published work, placed in a designated section (Declaration on Generative Artificial Intelligence and AI-enabled Technologies in the Writing Process) before the references list. An example of the required statement is as follows:

During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL / SERVICE] to [PURPOSE OF USE]. Following the application of this tool/service, the author(s) thoroughly reviewed and edited the content as necessary and take full responsibility for the final published version.
